Mike is a Limerick native. He qualified from the veterinary college in Dublin in 1992. He joined Cathedral Veterinary Clinic on qualifying and became a partner in 1993. Mike spent his first 8 years in mixed practice, during which time he honed his companion animal skills. In 1997 Mike took a sabbatical and headed to the southern hemisphere and New Zealand. While in the ‘land of the long white cloud’ Mike availed of the opportunity to work with Alex Walker, at his referral practice in Auckland, gaining valuable experience in both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. In 2000, Mike and his business partner Hugh O’Callaghan elected to focus their efforts exclusively on companion animal practice. With this in mind they set up Crescent Veterinary Clinic.
Mike is continually updating his professional skills and is currently enrolled for the Royal Veterinary College certificate in small animal surgery. His areas of interest include orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery. Mike is married to Aoife and they have five sons, James, Hugh, Joe, Cian and Oscar. As well as an avid Limerick hurling and Munster rugby fan, Mike’s other great passion in life is flying microlights. He has one pet dog called Max.
