Hugh graduated from Veterinary College Dublin in 1982. He commenced in mixed practice in the north west from 1982 to 1984. In Jan 1984 Hugh took up a temporary position at Scollard and Murphy Cathedral place Limerick. At that time the practice was mainly farm animal practice. Hugh worked for many years building up the companion animal practice. This end of practice grew rapidly with many new services being developed.
In 1987 Hugh became a partner in Cathedral Veterinary Group .This move coincided with a move to a new purpose built facility at Cathedral Place. This facility was one of the first of its kind in Munster. From 1987 the practice and case load expanded, during this time Hugh completed post graduate modules in soft tissue surgery, feline medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, dermatology, orthopaedic surgery, renal disease & cardiology.
In 2000 Hugh, with his business partner Michael Canty, launched Crescent Veterinary Clinic at Dooradoyle Road. This Clinic was rebuilt in 2006 with a modern up to date purpose built small animal hospital. In 2002 both Hugh and Michael added a new Clinic to the practice at Kilmurray Castletroy.
Hugh is very grateful to his many clients over the past forty years and has thoroughly enjoyed looking after the animals in his care over that time. He, in conjunction with Michael and the entire team, are committed to providing high quality pet care into the future.
